About the Halls & Their History

Welcome to Bethlehem Moravian College and its Halls of Residence. Each hall has a unique history, traditions, and facilities that create a welcoming environment where students live, learn, and build lifelong friendships.

Fleming Hall Building

Fleming Hall

"Unity is strength; strength is unity!"

A main residence hall which was originally constructed to house female students has been transformed into a male hall. Fleming Hall was named after Rev. Roderick Fleming, the father of many accepted features and customs of Bethlehem's life. In the early years, he helped to ensure the survival of Bethlehem by securing a Commonwealth Development and Welfare Grant of 3,000 pounds sterling.

The hall consists of two floors, with each floor having its own set of bathrooms. Residents share lounge, laundry, and kitchen facilities.

Accommodation: 34 Students

Beacon Hall Building

Beacon Hall

"Igniting the Way to Excellence"

Dr. Randolph Watson (Retired Principal) and Mrs. Valorie Tinglin (Former Director of Continuing Education Studies) were among the latest trailblazers whose vision helped bring Beacon Hall to life. The hall was constructed from trailer containers with assistance from the Ministry of Education.

It consists of two floors, with each floor having its own bathrooms. Residents have access to common kitchen facilities, while laundry facilities are shared with Hastings Hall.

Accommodation: 28 Students

Ashton Hall Building

Ashton Hall

"Ladies equipped with avidity and virtue"

Ashton Hall was named after Rev. Samuel Ashton. Under his leadership, the college became the first rural institution to benefit from an electric generating plant. In addition to serving as Principal, he taught almost every subject in the curriculum.

Ashton Hall houses female students and consists of three floors. Each floor has its own bathrooms, kitchen, and lounge facilities, creating a comfortable and welcoming living environment.

Accommodation: 88 Students

Hastings Hall Building

Hastings Hall

"Overcoming obstacles with determination"

Hastings Hall was named after Rt. Rev. S. U. Hastings. Through his efforts, the Protestant Central Agency for Development Aid in Germany granted DM 2.9 million for the expansion of Bethlehem Moravian College. Ashton Hall and Hastings Hall stand today as lasting evidence of that contribution.

This three-storey female residence provides shared bathrooms, lounges, laundry, and kitchen facilities in a safe and friendly residential community.

Accommodation: 86 Students
